Background
Born in the humble village of Arnum Mill, Amara lived the ordinary life of a farm girl for the entirety of her childhood. But, ever since she’d first heard of the valiant Order of the Balanced Scales, she’d felt a calling to be one of them and, as soon as she came of age to venture off on her own, she left Arnum Mill behind to journey to Highwater City.
Brie Rubyblade, a respected paladin nearing the end of her career, chose Amara to be her squire and trained her in the art of knighthood. Although Amara quickly found that many of the things required of a knight didn’t come naturally to her, she was a devout student and, by the time she was officially deemed a full knight, she was one of the most promising young knights in the Order.
Although most new knights continue to work almost exclusively under the guidance of their mentors for at least a year after graduating squirehood, that was not the case with Amara. Rubyblade fell in battle not long after Amara was named a knight, and so Amara began undertaking missions on her own far earlier than most members of the Order do. She soon proved to be more than capable of working alone, however, and ultimately came to be one of the most respected knights that the Order had to offer.
It was early on in her career as a knight that Amara came to befriend—and eventually begin to court—Pernilla Havendown, a priestess at the Temple of the Balanced Scales. When they married, they adopted a pair of orphan brothers, Kairos and Aiden, and raised them as their own, even as they continued their work for the Order of the Balanced Scales.
When Xieraine came of age to be trained, Atreus Guardianshield personally decided that Amara should be the one to train him, wanting her to share her knowledge and skill with who they expected to be the first Incarnate in generations. Although Amara was initially grudging to take on a squire, it wasn’t long until she and Xier grew close, and the two of them eventually came to view each other as family.
