I’ve been writing stories for as long as I can remember, from short picture books about the family pets, to comics featuring my own original superhero team, to full-length novels about various sorts of fantasy elves. (I’ve still got a weird thing with elves, as those of you who have read my web fiction probably already know.) I’ve been writing consistently since I was about twelve years old, when I started my very first novel series, a sci-fi/superhero/fantasy mash-up that went on for three books before I eventually moved on to write fanfiction for a bit. From there, I went back to original stories about the characters who, for the most part, I’m still writing about today.
I’m E.M. Linden, a writer who loves telling stories about action, adventure…and elves, apparently. I’m working on what will be my first published novel but, while I’m working on that, I thought I’d start using the blog to help give people an idea of what to expect from my work going forward.
So, let’s get into what exactly I’m going to be sharing here.
What to Expect from My Corner of the Web
Here on my site, I’ll continue to share short pieces of web fiction as I finish them and news updates, but I also plan on getting the blog really up and running. (Hence this post.) On the blog, I’ll be sharing everything from where I draw inspiration for my writing from to special looks at what I’m working on. I’ll also share reading recommendations and posts about some of my favorite books that I hope will be able to help you find your next read.
That said, maybe it’s time to introduce you to some of the sorts of stories that I like and that you can expect to see here.
So, I’m a bit of a geek, as you may have already caught on to. My number one favorite genre of…well, anything and everything, is fantasy, followed closely by sci-fi and superhero. I love stories that are packed with action, drama, and preferably some humor too. I like selfless heroes who go out of their way to do the right thing, even when it’s hard, and who manage, even when faced with impossible odds, to rise victorious.
Generally, the things that I post will be geared towards a younger, teens-through-twenties sort of audience, but everyone is welcome if you’re interested in what I have to show. Just know that there will be no super mature content here.
When to Expect New Content
The plan is to share two posts per month, one reading recommendation post and one post about my own stories and writing. The writing one will be during the first week of the month, and the reading one will be during the middle. Posts will go up on Wednesdays.
This is the first blog I’ve ever run, so it’ll be a bit of a learning curve while I try to figure out what works and what doesn’t, but the ride shouldn’t be too bumpy from the readers’ end.
Anyways, I welcome you to my little bubble and look forward to sharing with you! Thank you for reading, and be sure to check back on January 17th to see our first book recommendation.
