Nothing is as simple as it seems—particularly not in the life of a justice-bringing knight.
As a paladin of the Order of the Balanced Scales, the end of one quest marks the beginning of the next. After a successful first adventure, Xieraine Laedrin and his mentor Amara Trueheart journey to the location of their next mission: the town of Westshire, which has been facing threats of destruction from a local dragon.
The solution to the problem seems simple, but Xier and Amara quickly come to realize that things are not as straightforward as they appear. With mercenaries prowling the town and a mayor that clearly feels he has something to hide, there is obviously something amiss in Westshire—something that is being kept from Xier and Amara. If they are to succeed in protecting the townsfolk from the wrath of the dragon, they must find out for themselves what is really going on.
But time is short, and more problems arise throughout their mission, namely Xier’s poor control over the powers granted to him as an Incarnate of their goddess’s will—powers that he may well need if he and Amara are to rise victorious against the dangerous adversaries that oppose them. Will Xier and Amara manage to solve the various mysteries that stand in their way, or will they and all of Westshire fall prey to the fury of the raging dragon?
