The Sea Devil (Rise of the Oathsworn Book One)

Description

It isn’t easy living up to prophecies. Especially when you don’t necessarily believe them.

Ever since his stillborn corpse was given life by the High Justicar of the Order of the Balanced Scales—an organization of holy knights sworn to uphold peace and justice throughout their homeland of Durnia—Xieraine Laedrin, a young ivory fey, has been destined for greatness.

Or so he has been told. Over the years, as he has trained in the arts of knighthood, Xier has become less and less certain of his supposed destiny—and he is not the only member of his order to have such doubts. But, when Xier and his mentor Amara Trueheart embark on their first mission together to save the fishing town of Salt Point from a band of seafaring raiders, he is determined to prove himself—if not of his destiny, then at least as a worthy knight of the Balanced Scales.

Little does he know that the raiders are not the only enemies he must vanquish if he is to succeed, not when his own self-doubt could bring him and those he has sworn to protect to ruin. Will he overcome both his physical and mental adversaries, or will his journey as a knight be doomed to end before it has even truly begun?

The Sea Devil is a 9,000 word story, the first in the Rise of the Oathsworn series.
